Frequently Asked Questions

For comprehensive details of the scheme, please see this government webpage. We cover some frequently asked questions below.

What should I use as my reference number on my passenger locator form? The invoice or receipt number provided upon completing payment

When can I collect the test from Mayfield Clinic? Tests can only be collected on day 5 after your return (where day 0 is the day you land). For example if you return flight lands on Sunday, you can collect on Friday. We are open Mon-Fri 09:00-17:30.

What about returning on a weekend? We cannot accept returns on the weekend, but on a Saturday you can courier to London before midday to receive a result on Sunday. Please contact us for this address.

When will we post kits? Tests will be posted on day 5 after your return (where day 0 is the day you land). For example if you return flight lands on Sunday, we will post on Friday. We post test orders on weekdays, via Royal Mail Special Delivery

When can I take my sample? The earliest you can take the test is 5 full days after you were last in a place that is not on the travel corridor list. For most international arrivals this will be on your 5th full day of self-isolation.

Is my kit refundable? Tests are considered personalised items, and are non-refundable

Can I order multiple kits? Yes you can, however you'll need to do this one by one to enable us to collect the details we require for each traveller

Do you provide volume discounts? Yes for orders of 10 or more kits

Do children need to take tests? Yes, according to the government website they do

What do my results mean? There are 4 outcomes of your test:

  • Positive - You are infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Please immediately follow PHE England guidance to isolate along with your household
  • Negative - You are not infected with the virus. Please continue to take sensible precautions, if you were self-isolating as an international arrival you may stop self-isolating.
  • Inconclusive - Typically a borderline positive/negative result. You require retesting, and can not end isolation as an international arrival
  • Invalid - Occurs in 1-3% of samples. Typically (but not exclusively) this arises when insufficient human material is present on the swab sample, and is more frequent with home test kit samples. It can be mitigated by using our GP led testing service. You must continue to isolate as an international arrival

All outcomes are subject to laboratory fees and are non-refundable.
