There are many conditions that can be treated quickly and easily with minor surgery at the Practice including:
- Cuts and lacerations (stitches or glue)
- Removal of splinters
- Treatment of boils
- Removal of skin tags
- Treatment of warts and verrucae
- Removal of moles
- Removal of lipomas
- Removal of cysts
We see many patients who have small skin lesions that they would like assessed and removed. We routinely remove benign moles, skin tags, cysts, lipomas and other skin lesions. In some cases, the doctor will determine that a specialist is needed to treat the area, in which case an appropriate referral will be made.
An initial consultation followed by an appointment lasting at least thirty minutes is required for any of these procedures. This includes a consultation, documentation of consent and the procedure itself. We use local anaesthetic to ensure the procedure is pain free.
A short follow up appointment may be required for suture removal and is not included in the minor surgery fee.
Please visit our fees page for our full list of minor surgery charges.
Our doctors have access to and can order a wide range of pathology tests which can be ordered during your consultation or health check. For general health checks we usually suggest a screening profile. Information about these profiles and their costs can be found here.
The doctor will discuss with you what tests they are ordering, and the price of the tests, at your consultation. Please note that these prices are for the pathology only and are in addition to the consultation fee.
If you wish to claim the cost of the tests from your insurance please check that you are able to do this before your consultation. We are only able to bill the costs of blood tests to an insurance company if we have a guarantee of payment from your insurer before your appointment.
We have access to many private providers of imaging across Oxford, Cheltenham and London. We are usually able to arrange any imaging that is needed within a few days. Results may be given to you in person or can be emailed. If you wish to claim the cost of imaging from your insurance please check that you are able to do this before your consultation as some insurers will only cover imaging that has been requested by a specialist.
